This specialist system provides outstanding thermal benefits, is exceptionally breathable, and is available in a wide range of colours. Its lightweight properties mean it can be applied over various substrates, including insulation, blockwork, brick, cement board, render board, and even painted surfaces. It is also suitable for internal applications, ensuring maximum versatility.
How EWI Works
Before installation begins, we thoroughly clean and dry the chosen substrate—be it insulation, render board, concrete, brick, or stone—to ensure nothing interferes with the bond between the base coat render and the surface. We then install the insulation layer using a combination of adhesive and mechanical fixings. Insulation thickness typically starts at 20mm and can go up to 150mm or more, depending on requirements.
Next, we apply the first base coat, incorporating a full fibreglass reinforcement mesh and beading. This layer is allowed to cure for several days before we proceed with any additional coats. Depending on the manufacturer’s system, a suitable primer is then applied, followed by the final render coat in your chosen colour. Typically, the finished render thickness is between 8mm and 10mm.
Under warm, dry conditions, the render hardens within 2 to 6 hours. In more humid or colder weather, it may take up to 48 hours. Once the process is complete, we tidy the site thoroughly, ensuring a clean, professional finish.
